Students completed their introduction to cell worksheets independently; then, in groups of three or four, they discussed their ideas. As I believe that each student should feel that his or her ideas are valued in my classroom, at the conclusion of each activity, we did a whip around the room so students could say one word that they used to describe cells. We compiled these words into a Wordle graphic (see below) so that students could visualize both the discussion as a whole and the varying perspectives represented in the discussion.
